Dye Sublimation, as a process it is quite simple. It is a method of applying an image to specially coated ceramics, metals and polyester cloth, using sublimation ink, heat and pressure.

Sublimation ink is unique in that it is able to convert from a solid to a gas without going through a liquid form. The process is initiated by heat and controlled with pressure and time.

Mugs, quilt squares, t-shirts, plaques etc. with photos are common products created with the dye sublimation process.
