Home FAQ General What is Screen Printing?

Screen printing is a process that passes ink through a fine mesh screen depositing the ink onto material such as a t-shirt. The finer the screen the more detail that can be shown.

The artwork is broken out into separate screens for each color. Each screen allows ink to pass through it only where it should for the given color.

The material to be printed on (i.e. t-shirt) is placed on the platen, the first screen placed upon that and ink is passed through the screen onto the material. The process is repeated with each screen until the image is complete.

For best results the design being printed should be large, covering most of the printable area, have few colors and is being run in large quantities.
